Mubadala Investment Company announced on 10 September 2026 that it had agreed to make a significant minority investment in Luckin Coffee alongside Centurium Capital, which the release calls the controlling shareholder. According to Centurium’s counsel, Centurium-managed vehicles sold Luckin shares into a continuation vehicle in which Mubadala is lead investor, so Centurium is named in both roles. The transaction has an aggregate value of approximately US$1 billion and is subject to customary closing conditions. Only primary releases are counted here.
Week summary
1 deal, approximately US$1 billion in aggregate transaction value. That figure covers the whole transaction, and the release does not state Mubadala’s own ticket. Two further Gulf releases in the window are not counted (see below). No counted deal from other Gulf funds has a primary-source page behind it yet.

Week of 7 September: China, consumer
Mubadala agrees Luckin Coffee stake. On 10 September 2026 Mubadala announced it had agreed to make a significant minority investment in Luckin Coffee Inc., alongside Centurium Capital, in a transaction with an aggregate value of approximately US$1 billion. The parties, structure and open questions are in the full account of the Luckin Coffee agreement.
Why it matters for the corridor: the release states the transaction value but not Mubadala’s share. Fundraisers pitching Gulf co-investment cannot use US$1 billion as a Gulf ticket size.
Week of 28 September: China, presence
Mubadala announces Rolex Shanghai Masters sponsorship. On 1 October 2026 Mubadala announced a sponsorship of the Rolex Shanghai Masters. The release calls it Mubadala’s first sports sponsorship in Asia and its first partnership with an ATP 1000 tennis tournament. It states that Mubadala has invested in China since 2015. It says Mubadala has an established presence in Beijing, with more than 30 professionals. No capital amount is given. This is not a capital deal and is listed here as a presence marker only.
Why it matters for the corridor: the release gives a headcount, more than 30 professionals in Beijing, that a China-facing fundraiser can verify when mapping Mubadala’s on-the-ground coverage.
Not counted this week
- Doha Investment launch, 20 September 2026. QIA’s release says the platform will manage QIA’s domestic portfolio. It covers more than 40 companies reaching more than 80 markets. It is a Qatar-domestic restructuring and has no Asian counterparty, so it fails the corridor criterion.
- Rolex Shanghai Masters sponsorship, 1 October 2026. No capital committed (see above).
- Mubadala statements on Asia exposure. Statements by officials at conferences are not deals. They sit outside the count until a primary-source page on the fund’s own site carries them.
Status of the counted deal
The only counted transaction is an agreement, not a completion: the Luckin deal is subject to customary closing conditions, and the release names no closing date.
Editorial assessment
- The Luckin release gives a transaction value but no Mubadala ticket, so the corridor total for the period is a ceiling on Mubadala’s own ticket, not a Gulf outflow figure.
- Of the three Gulf releases in this digest, one is a capital deal with an Asian counterparty. The count is thin because the sourcing rule is strict, not because other funds were inactive.
